ABOUT ME

Aida Oliván-Viguera was born in Logroño, Spain, in 1988. She received the degree in Biochemistry in 2011 and the M.Sc. degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2012, both at the University of Zaragoza. She obtained the Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2015, with a thesis entitled “Nuevos Moduladores Selectivos del Gating de Canales Iónicos de Potasio KCa3.1/KCa2” (Novel Selective Gating Modulators of the KCa3.1/KCa2 Potassium Channels), developing small molecule modulators with selectivity for the KCa3.1/KCa2 potassium channels, and characterising their physiological activity, mainly in the cardiovascular system.

She joined the Biomedical Signal Interpretation and Computational Simulation group in 2015, where she is currently a postdoctoral researcher. Her research focuses on acquisition of electrophysiological signals from isolated cardiac cells and cardiac tissues, in order to characterise heart aging and risk to suffer arrhythmias.
