Validation of pulse rate variability, respiratory frequency and stress assessment from NIVAband

This research project, funded by Volumetrix, LLC, is developed in the CIBER-BBN. It is focused on deriving autonomic nervous system information from the venous pressure waveform recorded by NIVAband. Methods for deriving robust heart rate variability and respiratory rate will be derived. Signal quality indices will be derived in order to identify segments corrupted by artifacts. Derived indices will be validated in an experimental porcine model, where the effect of different drugs affecting autonomic nervous system will be studied. Then, they will be validated in different scenarios on human data including parasympathetic stimulation, such as yoga protocols, and sympathetic stimulation, such as stress protocols.
