This Proof of Concept will develop an intelligent wearable platform integrating High-Density Electromyography (HD-EMG) and inertial sensing with embedded intelligence to selectively capture muscular and movement data only during clinically relevant events. This dual-sensor strategy minimizes redundant data, reduces power consumption, and—crucially—records the neural information underlying motor dysfunction, not just its external manifestations. Building on ERC-funded advances in neural decoding, ParkEMG will focus on quantifying cortico-muscular coherence in the beta band and movement biomarkers such as bradykinesia and tremor, offering new windows into PD pathophysiology.
