Valentin Goreau

Valentin Goreau (France, 1997) is a postdoctoral fellow who joined the BSICoS group in 2026. He is a physiotherapist with master’s degrees in biostatistics and human movement science. In 2026, he completed his PhD at Nantes Université (France), where his research focused on the activity and neural control of motor units in healthy individuals and people with spinal cord injury or stroke, with a particular focus on how these mechanisms are influenced by changes in muscle length. His work combines neurophysiological approaches, including high-density electromyography, motor-unit decomposition, and advanced analyses of neural activity. More generally, his research interests lie at the interface between fundamental and applied human movement science, with the long-term goal of improving our understanding, assessment, and treatment of movement impairments.
