Biography
Mariola Peláez Coca was born in Granada, Spain, in 1974. PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Granada, and extraordinary master award in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Zaragoza. In 2003 she started working in the Physics Department of the University of Murcia where she carried out research work whose results she presented in the doctoral thesis “Desarrollo y evaluación de ayudas optoelectrónicas para pacientes de baja visión”. She was working in this department until November 2005, when she moved to the University of Zaragoza as Assistant Professor in the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department at the Escuela de Ingeniería y Arquitectura (EINA) at the University of Zaragoza. Her current position is Assistant Professor at the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (CUD) affiliated to the University of Zaragoza, where since September 2011 develops her work. Her main line of current research focuses on the study of the physiological response of subjects exposed to variable hyperbaric environments. Since 2014, she has participated as a researcher in six local projects and is PI of a national project of the Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad, all of them closely related to her main research line. Currently, three national research centers are actively involved in this line, and collaborations have been established with various international centers.
